Ellen Greenspan

Rabbi and educator active in interfaith and environmental initiatives

Rabbi Ellen Greenspan moved to Montreal from New Jersey in 2014 to become the Rabbi-Educator at Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom, Montreal's only Reform synagogue. After 8 years in that position, she "retired" in June 2022. "Retired" in quotes, because Rabbi Greenspan keeps very busy teaching Intro to Judaism, on-line for the Reform Movement and in-person at Congregation Dorshei Emet, Montreal's Reconstructionist synagogue. She serves as a volunteer guide at the Montreal Holocaust Museum, and, also as a volunteer, teaches English at Maison de l'amitié. She is involved in many interfaith activities, including serving on the Board of the Christian-Jewish Dialogue of Montreal. Rabbi Greenspan has been on the organizing committee for the Interfaith Eco-Action Clean-Up Day, held annually on Victoria Day. She is also a member of the Montreal GreenFaith Circle. Rabbi Greenspan loves nature, hiking and just generally being outdoors.
